2019-2020 marks Dr. Judy Moore's twenty-third year in education. She recently relocated to the Tampa area from the Charlotte, NC area where she's been working as an educator for twenty-one of those years. She holds a bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University in history education. She began her career in Raleigh, NC as a high school history teacher and coach. She and her husband relocated to the Charlotte area in 1998 and she continued to teach and coach at the high school level.
Not long after, Dr. Moore was tapped for the prestigious North Carolina Principal Fellows program and attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte to complete her Master's in School Administration. She served as a high school assistant principal, middle school principal, high school principal and alternative school principal in the years that followed and, in 2013, earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Moore holds professional certifications as a Secondary Social Studies educator, K-12 Principal, and K-12 Curriculum and Instruction specialist. Throughout her career she has presented at local, state-wide and national conferences on a variety of topics ranging from school-based leadership, teaching and leading in poverty, technology integration, data-driven decision making, and curriculum and instruction strategies. She has been a top five finalist in the Wake County Public School System (Raleigh, NC) for district-wide New Teacher of the Year and a finalist in Gaston County Schools (Gastonia, NC) for Principal of the Year.
Dr. Moore is incredibly excited to join the outstanding staff at Sunlake Academy of Math and Science and Charter School Associates! She has a strong focus on student growth both academically and developmentally. She believes in the vital importance of parent and community involvement, continuous performance improvement, and the establishment of a strong, positive school culture that values kindness, high-expectations, and excellence everyday.
Dr. Moore enjoys traveling, hiking, movies, gardening, reading, running, and competing in Spartan races. Her husband is a registered architect and works at Moffitt Cancer Center. Together they have two children (and one ten year old rescue dog). Their son is a senior at the United States Air Force Academy and their daughter is a sophomore at the University of Florida.
