The Future City Competition is an annual STEM challenge for middle school students focused on designing cities of the future. Teams of students, guided by a teacher and an engineer-mentor, work on a project that includes a virtual city design using simulation software, a 1,500-word essay on a specific urban theme, a physical scale model made from recycled materials, and a presentation to judges. Each year, the competition centers around a different theme related to urban planning and sustainability. Last year, SAMS won the most sustainable design award.

This is a highly competitive, small team competition, and Mr. Zahmoul will make the final determination regarding competitive team membership.
