STEM Challenge -Happy Birthday Albert Einstein

STEM

Look at the image on top and observe it carefully- what do you see? Up close, it's a faint, image of Albert Einstein. Now, move back 10 feet from the screen and glance at it again. Does anything look different? Who do you see now? The "Einstein to Monroe visual spatial resonance" is an optical illusion where an image shows Albert Einstein up close and Marilyn Monroe from a distance. This happens due to the manipulation of spatial frequencies, with Einstein's high-frequency details visible up close (detailed and clear) and Monroe's low-frequency features seen from afar (soft and blurry). Your brain interprets the dominant details based on your distance from the image.

Circumference

Pi is a ratio that represents the relationship between the circumference and the diameter of any circle. This ratio is approximately 3.14, and it remains the same for all circles, regardless of size. As a result, we celebrate Pi Day on March 14th.

Welcome Pandas

Giant pandas Bao Li [BOW-lee] and Qing Bao [ching-BOW] were introduced to the public at the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute (NZCBI) in Washington, D.C., on January 24. Panda fans can support the NZCBI's giant panda conservation efforts by purchasing limited-edition panda-themed M&M'S, available online at MMS.com and at various Smithsonian locations. For each panda pack sold, Mars will donate $5 to the conservation program, helping fund research and habitat protection for giant pandas.  đź’›
